Questions, answered straight.

The things families actually ask — before, during, and after getting everyone on the map.

Getting started

Will my teenager actually agree to use this?
That’s the part we’re proudest of. FamilySeen shows everyone the same map — you appear to your kids exactly the way they appear to you — and anyone can take a break from sharing whenever they need to. When an app treats every member like an equal, saying yes gets a whole lot easier.
Does everyone need to install an app and create an account?
No. You create the circle; everyone else joins from a link or QR code with just their name — no account, no password, no app store. They can grab the iPhone or Android app later (everything stays in sync), and add an email whenever they want to secure their spot.
Can Grandma join without an email address?
Absolutely — her name is enough. She taps the invite link, types “Grandma”, and she’s on the map. If she ever changes phones, adding an email keeps her place in the circle safe.

Everyday use

What happens when someone pauses sharing?
Their dot leaves the map within seconds and the circle sees a friendly “Paused sharing” label — we never fake an offline state. They keep full use of the app, and sharing resumes only when they flip their own switch back.
What exactly is a “ping”?
A gentle nudge that asks someone to open the app — a “thinking of you”, not a demand. It never fetches their location, the whole circle can see it was sent, and they answer whenever they’re ready.
How far back can I replay routes?
Two days to start, 30 days with Premium — and after 30 days every trace is deleted from our servers automatically. History is for “which café was that again?”, not for keeping records.

Privacy

What do you do with our location data?
We store it for 30 days to power your history, then delete it automatically — enforced at the database level, not by a settings toggle. We never sell location data. Our only revenue is your subscription, so you are the customer, not the product.
If I delete my account, what happens to my data?
It goes with you. Account, circles you own, location history — deleted, not archived. The details live in our privacy policy, written in plain English first.

Billing

Why do you ask for a card if the trial is free?
So your map doesn’t stop working mid-week when you’ve just gotten the family on board. You pay nothing for 7 days, we email you before the trial ends, and cancelling is one tap. Cancel in time and your card is never charged.
How do I cancel?
One tap in Settings → Billing — no calls, no retention bot. You keep everything until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and we email you before every renewal.

Choosing

How is this different from Life360’s free plan?
Life360’s free tier is a teaser for a safety bundle — crash detection, roadside assistance, identity protection — sold across three paid tiers. FamilySeen is one plan that does the family map completely: web dashboard, 30-day history, up to 20 places, and one map the whole family is happy to be on. If you want the insurance extras, Life360 is honestly the better pick — we’d rather be great at one thing.
